It's impressive for its small size, fitting comfortably in the palm of your hand. The controls are straightforward and easy to use. The highlight is its adjustable lens, which allows you to change the light’s direction from wide to narrow, and it comes with a diffusion dome that softens the light effectively. Best of all, these accessories attach magnetically, making swaps quick and effortless, taking just a few seconds.
I have recently tested the Iris, but I also have the Avant, mini and micro. I love everything about the products. I still feel like we are missing some creative bits and pieces to be able to get a new user entirely on Hobolite system. The IRIS is a very promising product. I love the gels and the play with creativity there. I would love to see that product upgrading to something that has shapers and go-between then eventually for a projection attachment. I am kinda waiting to see if Hobolite will come up with it before buying elsewhere. Another thing I’d super keen is RGB lights, rather then just the bi-colours. As per quality, presentation and functionality I couldn’t be happier with my light system at the moment. The light stands are better quality than most I have seen around.

Attachment points allow for both portrait and landscape use. It offers many practical lighting modes and is competitively priced compared to similar products.
It works quite well as a hair light to separate the subject from the background though. The key features include an ability to focus the light, adjust the color, and it has a built-in battery.
The Hobolite Iris is impressively compact, about the size of a credit card. Just visualize a credit card standing up on its side to imagine the dimensions. The controls are straightforward: a long press for power, short press for mode, and a dial that can be pressed for quick adjustments. It also features Bluetooth connectivity and an effects mode.
