JOE D’AGOSTINO

MY JOURNEY

Joe D'Agostino comes from a different background normally associated with creativity and art. However he has been an artist his entire life. Joe is a father, husband and lives in New Jersey right near the beach. Growing up surfing, skateboarding and studying Jiu Jitsu. For the past 24 years Joe has worked as a police officer where he serves as SWAT Team Commander and Law Enforcement Sniper. He has helped spearhead the resiliency program at his police department which helps first responders understand and cope with the effects of PTSD.
Joe’s artistic side comes in many forms. He has worked in numerous mediums from pencil to handcrafting custom leatherwork and everything in between. However, Joe found his true calling behind a camera at an early age. His true passion is in the street photography genre. He has been a contributing writer for FujiLove magazine and has had his work featured in numerous periodicals. Often working professionally as a product, food and wedding photographer. Joe enjoys the art of color grading and can often be seen hosting workshops or creating tutorials on his YouTube channel.
One of the most important reasons for Joe’s body of work can be attributed to the therapeutic nature of photography. He has found that spending more than half of his life in a career that can often expose the horrors in life, photography allows him to look at the world through different eyes. Finding the beauty in everyday life helps Joe control his own journey with PTSD. Joe believes that photography is a journey on a road that has no ending but can only be traveled.

Joe began working/collaborating with Harlowe (formally Hobolite) in 2022 when they invited him to become their first official ambassador.  One thing has always remained clear to Joe. Harlowe has always been committed to supporting the arts and those who create it. Joe is currently on the team here at Harlowe and truly enjoys attending events where he has the opportunity to meet other creatives and collaborate with others in the arts.
