It's heavier (7.72 lbs), but that weight comes from premium beechwood and iron reinforcement. If you want a stand to travel with, choose carbon fiber. If you want a stand to live with, choose Heritage.

Is it stable enough for a heavy spotting scope?

The Heritage Stand supports up to 8.82 lbs (4 kg) with adjustable tripod legs, reinforced iron crossbars, and a base counterweight hook. Most premium spotting scopes (including Swarovski ATX 95mm at ~4.5 lbs with eyepiece) are well within capacity. For scopes over 4 kg, we recommend the stand at lower extension heights for maximum stability.
