Key Lighting Techniques

A. Camera

This shoot was captured using the Sony A7R IVa with an FE 100mm F2.8 lens. The aperture was set to F13 for enhanced sharpness without losing focus. A shutter speed of 1/100 was used to prevent motion blur from the telephoto lens, while an ISO of 1000 ensured a clear and crisp image.

B. Avant Max + Snoot

Two Avant Max80W LEDs with Snoot Modifier & Blue Gel: The reflective backdrop (Mylar Paper) adds an element of intrigue, providing texture and depth that make the subject stand out as if they were under water. It’s a creative choice that can transform an ordinary portrait into an artistic masterpiece.

C. Avant Max + Softbox

Avant Max 80W LED paired with the Quick Release Softbox 1x4ft (30x120): By placing a light in front of the subject, the photographer can control the intensity and direction of the light, preventing overexposure and maintaining balance.

D. Avant Max + Softbox

Avant Max 80W LED paired with the Quick Release Softbox 24 in (60): This softbox is crucial in providing a gentle, diffused light that wraps around the subject, minimizing harsh shadows and creating a more flattering appearance.

E. Blade 10

Blade 10 Bi-Color & RGB Tube Light: Positioned vertically, these lights ensure that the subject is evenly lit from both sides. This setup is particularly useful for portrait photography, as it helps in accentuating facial features and adding a three-dimensional quality to the image.

F. Pro + Gobo

Harlowe Optical Light Lens with Gobo for Bowens Mount (for Pro): This serves as my creative key light to grab you attention but to act as the main separation for the model from the background with creative flare to the photo.
