"My work lives in the American West. Ranch life. Brandings. Calving seasons. Long days and longer conversations.
I photograph what it feels like to be there, not just what it looks like. Nothing staged. Nothing forced.
My work is grounded in hard work, early mornings, and people who show up whether anyone is watching or not.
Photography came later in my life, but the draw was immediate. Not for the camera, but for the people. The stories. The quiet moments that happen between the big ones.
Over the years, my work has taken me across the country on assignment for magazines, brands, and families who trust me to document their lives honestly. Some days are joyful. Some are heavy. All of them matter.
I believe photography isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection.
It’s not just a snapshot, it’s a story®
I believe light sets the tone before the viewer ever notices the subject. What I appreciate about Harlowe is...simplicity. The light does what it’s supposed to do, no drama, no guessing, no fighting it.
Whether I’m working in a barn, a studio, a branding pen, or on location in the middle of nowhere, I need tools that are reliable and intuitive. I don’t want to think about the light. I want to think about the moment unfolding in front of me. Harlowe allows me to stay present with the people I’m photographing. It gives me control without pulling me out of the story. Creative flow.
When the light disappears as a distraction, that’s when the real work happens. " -- Chris Dickinson
